How do I extract a good espresso?Updated a year ago

To extract a good espresso, several factors must be considered. A medium-dark roast is generally preferred to extract a better crema and a more balanced espresso. Having a good grinder is also essential fore a good at-home espresso. A good espresso corresponds to a certain ratio between the amount of ground coffee in your portafilter and the total output volume. For a single espresso, you expect to have 30ml for 7g to 9g of ground coffee, 60ml for a double with 18-20g of ground coffee, and 90ml for 20-26g in the case of a triple espresso. If you prefer using weight rather than volume, a ratio of 1g of ground coffee to 2g of final espresso works, regardless of the chosen portafilter.
