How do I adjust the grind on my grinder?Updated a year ago

It's important to know that two elements can be adjusted on your grinder: the coarseness of the grind, i.e., whether your coffee will be finely or coarsely ground, and the amount of coffee that falls into the portafilter with each dose (if your grinder offers this pre-setting). Ideally, you should keep the amount of coffee as stable as possible (between 7 and 9g of ground coffee for a single espresso, 18-20g for a double espresso). Make an espresso and observe how it flows. If it flows very little or not at all, try to make your grind coarser while keeping the same amount of coffee. Conversely, if the extraction is quick and finishes in less than 20 seconds, try to make the grind finer while keeping the same amount of coffee.
